Teen Mothers and Their Babies
Since its inception, Mustard Seed Communities has been committed to caring for the most vulnerable. In 1992, we expanded our care to encompass teen mothers in crisis, focusing on the empowerment of these young mothers facing challenging circumstances such as pregnancy, abandonment, or other adversities.

The evolution of our mission now revolves around addressing the ongoing needs of these resilient young women. The establishment of the Mary’s Child program in 1992 exemplifies this commitment, providing a secure home and spiritual haven for pregnant teenagers. Going beyond mere shelter, Mary’s Child is dedicated to fostering comprehensive growth in every dimension of these young mothers’ lives.

Entrants to the homes are first-time teenage mothers, often referred by social workers, police, schools, or health authorities. At Mary’s Child, each mother engages in daily morning meditation, mid-day rosary, and weekly Mass. In addition to spiritual growth, mothers are provided with educational opportunities and life-enabling skills. Courses range from computer literacy in the on-site lab to home economics classes, such as culinary arts. Educational workshops on topics like parenting skills and life choices further empower them, laying a foundation for employability and independence upon leaving the home.
Empower teen moms in crisis at Mary’s Child by offering essential support for their journey towards independence and a brighter future.
