Education
Ensuring the right to education for every child is a fundamental belief at Mustard Seed Communities. Our commitment to caring for the most vulnerable extends to those without access to traditional educational systems. MSC prioritizes individualized education plans for all residents with unique needs and disabilities. When feasible, many of our residents attend public schools. Additionally, MSC extends educational opportunities beyond our residential programs through the Little Angels Learning Centers in Jamaica and Zimbabwe.
We impart self-confidence , opening a world of empowerment.
We prioritize educational opportunities for Mustard Seed Communities’ residents.
Education is paramount in our care philosophy, tailored to the diverse needs of our residents with disabilities. Dare to Care participants attend public schools when suitable, and for those facing unique challenges due to HIV status, we explore alternative educational approaches to ensure their well-rounded development. Residents with disabilities attend specialized local schools when feasible, and more independent individuals benefit from education in our Little Angels Learning Centers in Jamaica and Zimbabwe.
We reach out to educate our local communities.
Our goal at Little Angels is to deliver high-quality, tuition-free education to underprivileged children in the communities we support. Children engage in a curriculum designed to foster students’ mental, physical, and spiritual development. The inaugural Little Angels Learning Center opened in Jamaica in 2002, with the Ministry of Education overseeing our annual curriculum structure. Field trips enrich the children’s understanding of their cultural heritage, and spirituality is integral, with Mass, adoration, and an annual retreat.
Little Angels Learning Center students at My Father’s House in Kingston, Jamaica sing “every child can learn and learn I must!”
We ensure children are fed nutritious meals at school.
In Zimbabwe, two Little Angels Learning Centers provide education and two daily meals for 200 children. Offering foundational preschool education to those under 5, we prepare them for entry into formal first-grade schools. Morning prayers, singing, and spiritual activities are integral parts of the children’s routine. Zimbabwe’s Learning Centers are situated at the main Woodville property and Cabatsha, coexisting with nutrition programs at both locations.
