Birthdate: October 21, 1991
Manuel is an art lover who lights up when he sees a picture with bright lively colors. He listens closely when you speak to him and often will give you a radiant smile in return.
Manuel has called Mustard Seed Communities Dominican Republic home since 2015. He has intellectual disabilities, limited motor function, and paralysis. One of his favorite daily activities is physical therapy, especially therapeutic massage.

Ángel

Ángel’s name reflects his personality. He is an affectionate child with a sweet disposition. Ángel enjoys playing with anyone and everyone who is available. He loves music, bright colors, and watching cartoons. Ángel demonstrates his joy by clapping his hands when he participates in an activity that he loves.
Ángel joined the Mustard Seed family in Dominican Republic when he was 5 years old. Ángel has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, limited motor function, is intellectually disabled, and uses a wheelchair. He receives physical therapy every day and his physical and cognitive development are markedly improving. He participates in the daily activities at Hogar Immanuel fully with assistance from his caregivers.

Carolina

Birthdate: December 29, 2009
Carolina likes to try new things and is a tactile learner, she learns best when she is able to participate in activities that involve touching and moving. She likes to carry a doll or a ball to keep her hands busy. Carolina has limited motor function and sickle cell anemia.
Carolina attends the Puerto Plato Special School and is learning to speak. She practices by engaging her peers in conversations and fun activities.

Miguel

Birthdate: November 13, 1997
Miguel loves the outdoors and the feeling of the warm sun on his face. He became a member of the Mustard Seed family in Dominican Republic when he was 10 years old. Miguel has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, limited motor function, is intellectually disabled, and uses a wheelchair. When he arrived at Hogar Immanuel he was malnourished and could not move his limbs. Miguel did not express emotions and his face was often expressionless.
After months of loving care and physical therapy, Miguel was able to show the joy he felt. Today he is known to be a happy young man who smiles frequently. Miguel enjoys music and listening to cartoons.

Nicauli
Birthdate: 2004-05-24
Birthdate: May 24, 2004
Nicauli is very curious. She likes to keep an eye on all of her fellow residents and watch activities take place around her. She loves bright colors and listening to music. She became part of the Mustard Seed family when she was 9 years old. Nicauli has cerebral palsy, limited motor function, is intellectually disabled, and uses a wheelchair.
She receives daily physical and occupational therapy at Hogar Immanuel. Although she is not able to speak, she understands when someone is speaking to her and tries to communicate back.

Altagracia
Birthdate: 2016-03-16
Birthdate: March 16, 2016
The literal meaning of Altagracia is “high grace”; referring to Mary having received the highest grace of being the mother of Jesus. Our Lady of Altagracia is the patron saint of the Dominican Republic. Altagracia was abandoned in the backyard of the Lady of Altagracia Hospital. There is no knowledge of her parents. She has autism spectrum disorder and an intellectual disability. Mustard Seed was asked to care for her because the home she was in is not able to provide care to a child with significant needs.
She is very sociable and enjoys listening to music. Altagracia is an affectionate child and likes to give big hugs.

Baby Love

Birthdate: August 19, 2008
Baby Love is a fashionista. She is happiest when she has a pretty dress on and a bow in her hair. She likes playing with dolls and making them as dressed up as she is. Baby Love is intellectually disabled and has limited motor function. She attends school in Puerto Plata and loves learning new things.
When she’s not busy chatting with all of her fellow residents and caregivers, she likes playing with blocks, coloring, and playing games on her tablet. She loves dancing and bringing joy to all who meet her.

Caroline

Caroline is a sweet and happy child. She enjoys playing with the other residents and loves it when she is the center of attention. She became part of the Mustard Seed Communities family when she was 9 years old. Caroline has cerebral palsy and epilepsy and uses a wheelchair.
If you have a chance to meet Caroline, you will often find her playing with toys. She plays for hours without getting bored! Two of her other favorite activities are watching TV and joining in circle time.

Jerry

Birthdate: January 23, 2015
Jerry has grown so much since joining the Mustard Seed Communities Dominican Republic family in 2017! When he first came to MSC, he struggled with mobility due to cerebral palsy. After daily physical therapy, he now can crawl around by himself.
Jerry enjoys listening to music and loves taking naps. His sponsor will be able to watch Jerry grow and thrive!
