The Priestly Ordination of Reverend Mr. Ernest Chikwata

Mustard Seed Communities celebrates its Feast Day each year on September 8th. This year the Feast Day, which is in conjunction with the Nativity of Mary (Our Patroness), will feature a priestly ordination for the Mustard Seed Missionaries.

On September 8, 2022, Deacon Ernest Chikwata will be ordained a priest at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity in Kingston, Jamaica. This ordination is a special occasion for Mustard Seed Communities, as Deacon Ernest will be the second priest for the Mustard Seed Missionaries and the first to complete his discernment process in the St. Andrew’s House of Formation.

In February, Brother Ernest was ordained a transitional deacon following several years of study, prayer, and discernment at St. Andrew’s House of Formation located at Jacob’s Ladder. For the past 6 months Deacon Ernest has continued his studies in his path to the priesthood while also working at Jacob’s Ladder in different capacities.

We are extremely proud of Deacon Ernest and Thank Our Lord for his “Yes” to serve the most vulnerable around the world. Please continue to pray for Deacon Ernest and for vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

We invite you to join us for this momentous occasion. The Mass will be live streamed from the cathedral, a link will follow within the next week. The Mass will begin at 4 p.m. EDT.
