I Found the Meaning of Life: Moses’ Story

Mustard Seed Communities operates in Jamaica, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Zimbabwe, and Malawi to provide lifelong care for the most vulnerable.

While our mission remains the same across the world, each country’s program complements the local community’s needs and culture.

For MSC Zimbabwe, communities around Bulawayo look to our schools, nutrition programs, and homes for children living with disabilities as places to connect and grow mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

Moses is a member of Bulawayo’s community and driver for MSC Zimbabwe who wants to make an impact for good. By volunteering and then working for MSC, Moses makes connections that matter and embodies our mission’s hope to uplift people regardless of their background.

The opportunity to immerse himself in the lively and uplifting atmosphere of MSC became a transformative force in Moses’ life.

My name is Moses, and I work as a driver here at Mustard Seed Communities (MSC).

I started serving with MSC 12 years ago. Frankly, seeing the work MSC did in my area growing up, I always wanted to be part of making a difference with this community! At that time, MSC provided literally the only activities in my area and opened my journey into the life of service.

One of my fond memories is the construction of the Passion Park and Rosary garden; I cherish these as I contributed to the two prayer gardens. I asked for nothing in return, I simply wanted to help in the building of Mustard Seed Communities. I remember the day that I was hired as a full-time employee; I was so elated! Then I was hired just as a general hand and today I serve as a driver.

Time for school! MSC has buses to bring Little Angels students to Woodville.

My experiences at MSC made me realize the beautiful simplicity of life:

Being a part of the Mustard Seed Communities Family has facilitated my personal and professional growth. It’s been a bumpy ride but I wouldn’t trade the memories for anything. The family here did not criticize my background or focus on the qualifications I did not have, but instead, walked the path of growth with me. This place has also aided me in becoming more compassionate towards others and that’s a quality no one can take away from me.

The selfless works of MSC are proof to me that humanity in all its compassion still exists. The emotional and spiritual growth in this place is top-tier… and each day I pass the values of MSC to my teenage beautiful children, yes – from a teenage boy to a father of two!

I am so grateful that in this role, I get to witness the simplicity and generosity of love.

Moses’ passion and commitment demonstrates that when communities come together, lives are changed for the better. Here at Mustard Seed Communities, we hold a deep appreciation for the volunteers and staff who do the work of caring for the most vulnerable.

Thank you, Moses, for sharing this reflection on your time at MSC!
